Computer Science Educator
Salary Range: $54,630 – $114,862 annually based on degree and student contact hours
Mid-Pacific seeks a progressive educator with professional and educational experience spanning engineering, computer science, and immersive technologies. Faculty at Mid-Pacific are responsible for designing engaging environments that encourage inquiry-style learning, the development of foundational skills, and students' deeper understanding of technology's real-world impact.
This role focuses on Computer Science, including Cybersecurity, within the Technology and Engineering department, a collaborative team that also spans robotics, engineering, design thinking, immersive technology, and digital media. At Mid-Pacific, computer science goes beyond coding; it encompasses computational thinking applied across engineering, design, and emerging technologies. You'll work with in established curriculum frameworks while having room to bring your own ideas and creativity to the courses you teach.
This position requires active collaboration across departments and grade levels, and full participation in the school's broader academic community.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Teach Computer Science courses, including IB Computer Science HL.
- Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction using modern programming languages such as Swift, C++, Python, and JavaScript.
- Connect foundational concepts in IT, cybersecurity, networking, and AI to real-world applications and emerging technologies.
- Encourage students to think critically and creatively, and to understand and navigate the complexities of the digital environment.
- Teach Engineering and Technology courses as needed.
- Mentor Technology Independent Studies and Student Technology Leadership students.
- Collaborate with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Coordinator on IB requirements, training, and classes.
- Instruct students using a wide range of student-centered strategies.
- Differentiate instruction to meet student needs.
- Teach core concepts and skills as outlined in the departmental scope and sequence, and as directed by the School's vision and mission.
- Prepare lesson plans in accordance with curriculum guidelines set by the department and the school.
- Utilize the School's information system to host curriculum and communicate student progress efficiently, and in a timely manner.
- Understand the purpose, function, and curricular potential of all technology on campus.
- Participate in local, national, and international groups specific to technology and innovative teaching techniques.
- Model positive digital citizenship to all Mid-Pacific constituents.
- Regular and predictable attendance at work.
- Provides in-person classroom instruction, supervision, and support to students during the school day.

School Safety
- Participate in the development of a safe and healthy workplace.
- Comply with the instructions given for their own safety and health and that of others in adhering to safe work procedures.
- Take reasonable care to ensure their own safety and health and that of others.
- Report any injury, hazard, or illness immediately to their Supervisor and Human Resources.
- Not place others at risk by any act or omission, and not willfully or recklessly interfere with safety equipment.
- Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviors.
- Identify, assess if necessary, and control hazards within the area of responsibility.
- Ensure that equipment/supplies are properly maintained.
- Maintain relevant knowledge of safety laws.
- Mandatory reporting of sexual abuse to law enforcement or child protective services, and Human Resources. Sexual abuse includes child molestation, any actual or alleged illegal or otherwise wrongful sexual conduct with a minor, and serial sexual misconduct, any actual or alleged illegal or otherwise wrongful sexual conduct with more than one victim; and committed by or alleged to have been committed by any perpetrator who is not a student of an included entity.
