This advertisement is for an 11-month, non-tenure-track faculty position to begin approximately September 1, 2026.
Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as the Faculty Co-Director for the Genomics and Bioinformatics Shared Resources supporting, facilitating and promoting collaborative cancer research between the various disciplines at the UH Cancer Center by providing cutting-edge genomics analyses which contribute to understanding cancer, other diseases or health outcomes in populations in Hawaii and elsewhere.Leads an independent, extramurally-funded research program to advance scientific discoveries in reducing cancer risk independently or in collaboration with other faculty members at the University of Hawaii (UH) Cancer Center, John
A. Burns School of Medicine and the University of Hawai'i, as well as researchers at other institutions.Publishes research in peer-reviewed scientific journals.Stay abreast and/or develop innovative genomics studies in support of etiology and intervention research in community, clinical, or other settings.Supervise postgraduate students (PhD or MS) and participate in equivalent graduate-level teaching.Performs scholarly activities assigned.Minimum Qualifications
PhD in Natural or Biomedical sciences from a college or university of recognized standing.Minimum 10 years of work experience with molecular genomics methodologies (with emphasis on NGS techniques) and demonstrated ability to proficiently implement genomics platforms for collaborative genomic research.Ability to generate research reports, publications, and grant proposals.Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory role.Demonstrated initiative, interest in innovation, and adaptability.Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with peers from different scientific backgrounds.Desirable Qualifications
Experience in single-cell NGS as well as spatial transcriptomics methodologies.Work experience in a Core Facility environment and managerial skills.To Apply
