For placement in lecturer pool for Summer 2026. Contingent upon student enrollment, position availability, course offerings, departmental need, and funding. Lecturer positions are part-time, non-tenure. Lecturers are required to reside in and teach from Hawaii.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To teach one or more courses within a range of topics that include, depending on the qualifications of lecturers:

MBBE 402 - Principles of Biochemistry

Responsible for conducting all scheduled classes; meeting course requirements as established by the department/program, preparing course syllabus, setting exams and homework, grading, maintaining weekly office hours and being accessible to students.

Minimum Qualifications:

M.S. degree agriculture, plant breeding or molecular biology from an accredited university/institution by time of appointment.

Demonstrated ability to teach college-level face-to-face lecture and laboratory courses.

Working knowledge of plant biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology.

Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.

Desirable

Qualifications:

Ph.D. or doctoral degree in agriculture, plant breeding, biochemistry, molecular biology or related field.

Success teaching large-enrollment sections and supervising GTAs/labs.

Demonstrated hands-on training innovations (e.g., Plant metabolic pathways).

Experience coordinating internships and industry partnerships; experience advising student clubs.
