Salary Range: $800 - $1,000 (per credit hour)

Position Summary
The responsibilities of this position comprise teaching both undergraduate and graduate level courses in the Data Science, Analytics and Visualization and Computer Science Programs. The Adjunct Faculty is expected to remain current in the discipline and pedagogy. The Adjunct Faculty participate actively in curriculum delivery, development, and assessment. The Adjunct Faculty will hold regular office hours in support of students. The Adjunct Faculty will perform all duties professionally and ethically, and support the policies and mission of the University.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Meet faculty responsibilities as described by Chaminade University's Policy Manual IV.
- Support policies as stated in the Chaminade College:
College of Business, Innovation, and Technology. - Participate in meetings related to the course(s) being taught.
- Demonstrate and encourage critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrate and maintain a professional relationship with administration, faculty, staff, and students.
- Communicate clearly with administration, faculty, staff, and students.
- Serve as a professional role model for students.
- Maintain high standards and promote excellence in education.
- Demonstrate ongoing professional competency by seeking new knowledge, improving teaching skills, and remaining current in the academic discipline.
- Design, execute, and assess courses in Computer Science and Data Science, Analytics, and Visualization.
- Collaborate with data collection and tracking student outcomes in support of extramurally funded programs at the request of the Chair in Data Science, Analytics, and Visualization.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Chair in Data Science, Analytics and Visualization, and the Dean of Business, Innovation, and Technology
Qualifications
Minimum Education
Master's in Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university. Applicants with a Bachelor's and appropriate experience may be qualified pending approval by the Provost.
Minimum Experience
Industry experience in programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, R, or SQL), programming compilers, using open-source tools to develop applications and achieve results, machine learning, statistical analyses and visualizations, and high-performance computing, and teaching experience and delivering training programs in computer science or data science.
Minimum
Skills:
- Knowledge in Java, R, Python, SQL, macOS and Windows, data science, big data, deep learning, text mining, statistical analyses, Bayesian statistics, and machine learning, and high-performance computing.
- Programming languages, programming structures and design, programming applications, and data structures
- Knowledge on developing and performing designed experiments using a programming language, deep learning and machine learning, statistical analyses, Bayesian statistics, big data, visualizations, and high-performance computing.
- Knowledge on 3rd party applications and utilizing them to extend features and operations, and improve functionality and reliability.
- Knowledge on front-end development and backend development.
- Knowledge on transferability of codes and projects.
- Knowledge on testing and debugging code.
- Understanding of programming policies, standards, and best practices.
- Experience applying various programming languages towards some application.
- Experience presenting in front of technical and non-technical groups.
- Experience course content for offline and online computer environments.
- Good communication and presentation skills to explain complex programming concepts to students.
- Computer literate with an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point); learning management systems (e.g. Canvas); e-mail programs; and the internet. Has knowledge and experience in using common office equipment such as copiers and scanners.
- Ability to design and implement programs of study such as training and workshops, designing learning outcomes, assembling content and delivering lectures, and delivering and managing class activities.
- Ability to prioritize work and resources.
