Lecturer, CC (Interdisciplinary Studies, Introduction to College)

Salary: minimum $1,978/per credit hour

Other Conditions:
Fall 2025/Spring 2026/Summer 2026, part-time, temporary, for lecturer applicant pool. Non-tenurial, pending availability of funds and actual staffing requirements. May be for Leeward CC day, evening or weekend offerings on- and off-campus such as Leeward CC - Waianae Moku and Early College at local area high schools (pending background clearance) or other satellite campuses.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned College Success courses in a variety of modalities, including face-to-face, online, synchronous, asynchronous and hybrid at Leeward CC Pu'uloa campus, Waianae Moku, an Early College partner high school or other satellite campuses.
  • Maintain minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught.
  • Prepare course syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress.
  • Work under supervision of the student services coordinator in coordinating and integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline and in carrying out teaching responsibilities according to standard instructional practices set by the division.
  • May include instructional assignments involving distance education.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • (a) Master's in Counseling and Guidance, Counseling Psychology, College Student Personnel Services, Human Resources (to include both CTAHR and Personnel), Communications or related field; OR (b) Bachelor's in Counseling and Guidance, Counseling Psychology, College Student Personnel Services, Human Resources (to include both CTAHR and Personnel), Communications or related field and 3 years related work experience.
  • Related fields include:
    Education (to include all degrees in this field), Family Resources, Human Development, Psychology (to include all degrees in this field), Public Heath, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Sociology and Student Services Personnel.

  • All minimum qualifications must be from a regionally accredited institution and met by the effective date of appointment.
  • Desirable Qualifications
  • Two years of teaching experience at a community college.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with community college students.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively in a higher education setting.
  • Two years experience with student success initiatives, academic advising or first year education curriculum.
  • Familiarity with outcome- and competency-based instruction.

    (NACES), verifying the degree equivalency to that of an accredited institution within the USA. Expense of the evaluation shall be borne by the applicant.
