For placement in lecturer pool for 2026 academic year and future semesters, including summer courses. Contingent upon registration, position availability, course offerings, departmental need, and funding. Lecturer positions are part-time, non-tenure. Lecturers are required to reside in and teach from Hawaii.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To teach one or more courses within a range of topics that include, depending on the qualifications of lecturers:

  • ANSC 200 – Humans, Animals, and Agriculture
  • ANSC 200L – Humans, Animals, and Agriculture Laboratory
  • ANSC 201 – Principles and Practices of Animal Science
  • ANSC 321 – Applied Animal Nutrition
  • ANSC 492 – Field Experience
  • For any other interested courses not listed above, please  for course descriptions.

Responsible for conducting all scheduled classes; meeting course requirements as established by the department/program, preparing course syllabus, grading, maintaining weekly office hours and being accessible to students.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.S. degree in Animal Science or a closely related field (livestock and/or aquaculture emphasis) from an accredited university/institution by time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach college-level face-to-face lecture and laboratory courses.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. livestock production and/or aquaculture production practices, including animal handling/welfare, aquatic biosecurity, and lab/field safety.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.
  • Desirable

    Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or D.V.M. (farm-animal emphasis) or doctoral degree in aquaculture/fisheries or related field.
  • Success teaching large-enrollment sections and supervising GTAs/labs.
  • Demonstrated hands-on training innovations (e.g., livestock skill modules; aquaculture life-support/water-quality labs; practicum design).
  • Experience coordinating internships and industry partnerships; experience advising student clubs.
