South Coast Baptist College (SCBC) is seeking a passionate and innovative Design and Technologies Teacher with strengths in Engineering and Materials to join our Secondary School team.
Permanent employment is available between 0.5 and 1.0 FTE, depending on the skills, experience, and availability of the successful applicant.

Statement of Faith.
About the roleThe Design and Technologies Teacher will deliver engaging and high‑quality learning programs across Years 7–10, with the opportunity to contribute to senior secondary pathways including Engineering Studies and related Technologies courses.
Working within a collaborative Technologies Department, the teacher will create innovative learning experiences that develop students' understanding of engineering principles, design thinking, materials technologies, sustainability, project management, and contemporary manufacturing processes.
The teacher will play a key role in fostering student creativity, technical skills, and confidence while maintaining high standards of workshop safety and professional practice.
Key responsibilities- Deliver engaging Design and Technologies, Engineering, and Materials programs aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum.
- Develop practical and theoretical learning experiences that build engineering and design capabilities.
- Teach students skills in areas such as fabrication, electronics, mechanisms, technical drawing, CAD, digital manufacturing, and production processes.
- Integrate contemporary technologies including 3D printing, laser cutting, robotics, electronics, and simulation tools where appropriate.
- Differentiated learning to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Design and implement meaningful assessment tasks that demonstrate practical and theoretical understanding.
- Foster creativity, innovation, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Maintain a safe and well‑organised workshop learning environment.
- Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety requirements and College procedures.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum, resources, and assessment practices.
- Contribute positively to the broader life of the College community.
- Experience teaching Design and Technologies, Engineering, Materials, or related subjects.
- Strong workshop management and safety practices.
- The ability to engage students through practical and project‑based learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A collaborative approach and commitment to skilled growth.
- A commitment to the Christian mission, values, and culture of the College.
- Recognised teaching qualification and eligibility for registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA).
- Current Working With Children Check.
- A personal faith and commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ.
- Active participation in a church or Christian community.
- Acceptance of the College's Statement of Faith.
- Commitment to maintaining a child‑safe environment in line with the College's values and policies.
- Experience teaching senior secondary Engineering Studies.
- Experience with CAD, robotics, electronics, 3D printing, laser cutting, or other emerging technologies.
- Industry experience in engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, or design.
- Experience delivering flight simulation programs.
- Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one upon commencement.
