Position: Early Learning Educational Assistant I, II, III - Pearl Harbor Kai Elementary

Job Summary: The position of Educational Assistant III (Eligibility extends to Assistant I and II if needed) supports Early Learning classroom teachers in public pre‑kindergarten programs. The assistant provides independent learning experiences, promotes child development, and ensures a safe, nurturing environment for children before kindergarten.

Salary Range
  • Educational Assistant I (SR‑10): $3,019.78 per month
  • Educational Assistant II (SR‑12): $3,260.76 per month
  • Educational Assistant III (SR‑14): $3,526.98 per month
Key Responsibilities
  • Cultivate healthy, challenging learning environments and engage children positively during activities, routines, and transitions.
  • Implement and assess planned learning experiences for children, setting up activity areas for indoor, outdoor, group, and individual activities.
  • Observe children to document and assess development; collect and record data as directed by the teacher.
  • Ensure the overall health and safety of children, assisting with toileting, handwashing, eating, resting, play, and sanitation; report and address unsafe environments.
  • Prepare and maintain learning materials and environments in alignment with teacher guidance, providing modifications and adaptations when needed.
  • Supervise children before, during, and after class activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Special Requirement:
    One of the following:
    • Possession of a current Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential.
    • Completion of a training program meeting CDA Credential preparation requirements, including 120 hours of formal early‑childhood education training covering ages 3‑5.
  • Education:

    Graduation from high school or equivalent plus one of the following:
    • Pass an approved exam (Para Pro or Para Pathways assessments).
    • At least 48 baccalaureate‑level semester credits, including 3 in mathematics and 3 in English.
    • An associate degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Experience:

    General experience and specialized experience requirements by level.
    • Educational Assistant I: 0 years general, 0 years specialized.
    • Educational Assistant II: 1 year general, 0 years specialized.
    • Educational Assistant III: 1 year general, 1 year specialized.

  • General

    Experience:

    Paid or volunteer work involving direct interaction with people and accurate observation/reporting.
  • Specialized

    Experience:

    Direct academic, personal, social, vocational, or behavioral services for children, students, or individuals with disabilities, preferably in an educational setting.
