Teacher - PE & Health

We are looking for a committed Teacher to complement our qualified workforce of educators. You will be responsible for preparing and implementing a full educational teaching plan according to the school’s requirements. It will be fundamental to provide knowledge and instruction to students while also helping to develop their personalities and skills. The ideal candidate will be passionate for the job with an ability to reach out to students and create a relationship of mutual trust.

They will know how to organize a class and make learning an easy and meaningful process.

Classroom Management

• Creating a safe, respectful, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment
• Establishing a learning environment of high trust and respect as well as managing rules of behavior
• Maintain accurate school records: attendance, grades, progress checks

Planning & Assessment

• Ability to develop lesson plans and successfully instruct students through standards-aligned lessons, units and projects to achieve learning objectives
• Establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units and projects
• Encouraging students to explore learning opportunities and college/career paths
• Creating, assigning and grading various assessments for students, including tests, quizzes, essays and projects
• Assess, monitor, and record students’ progress and provide grades and feedback in a timely manner
• Administering tests/assessments to evaluate students’ progress and performance

Instructional Practice & Pedagogy

• Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of students
• Working with students one-on-one when they need extra help or attention
• Integrating technology into the learning environment
• Maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, coworkers and supervisors
• Communicating regularly with parents/guardians
• Effectively communicate with others and clearly express complex ideas
• Collaborate with faculty and staff

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree related to area of teaching
• Experience with teaching in a classroom setting (preferably middle or high school) in this area
• Knowledge of educational pedagogies and best instructional practices
• Strong organizational, time management and communication skills
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Comfortable with technology (Mac environment)

Other

• Must submit to fingerprinting and background check
• Supervision, as assigned.
• Active participation in scheduled meetings, professional development, and training.
• Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule
:
School hours are M-F 7:30am-3:30pm. A few weekend and evening hours for special school events such as Open House, Back to School Night, Backyard Pāʻina, and Annual Lūʻau.
