Even Start Teaching Assistant

“Even Start” places preschool children with mother‑speaking parents who speak limited English to build classroom readiness and family literacy skills. This role supports students with work‑study who want experience working with young children and families.

Assist in delivering learning activities that prepare preschoolers for kindergarten, strengthen English skills for children and parents, and support family engagement. No prior teaching experience is required.

• Help prepare materials and provide hands‑on instruction for preschool learning projects.
• Assist staff and parents in activities that promote early school readiness and English language development.
• Collaborate with other Even Start staff to strengthen families’ English skills.
• Offer creative lesson ideas or activities for preschool children (optional).

• Pay: $12.44 per hour.

Schedule:

Monday‑Thursday, 8:30‑11:30a.m. and 12:15‑2:15p.m.

• Full semester commitment (Fall or Spring) with an average of 10‑20 hours per week.

• Federal work‑study enrollment.
• Pass a KUSD criminal background check.
• Strong teamwork skills and a positive attitude when working with co‑workers.
• Passion for working with children.
• Reliable transportation to Kenosha School of Language.
