Regular, Full-Time, Limited-Term (not to exceed twelve (12) months in duration from date of hire), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Department of Urban & Regional Planning, National Disaster Preparedness Training Center (NDPTC), located at the University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa (UHM), in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi.
Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
CompensationMONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $4,100 - $4,333.33/Mon.
Duties- Responsible for the development, implementation, and updating of NDPTC`s Instructor Development Program. Position works to ensure that NDPTC`s program is consistent with and complies with DHS/Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) guidelines and incorporates adult learning theories, classroom management techniques, and instructor development and coaching techniques.
- The Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for all instructors to ensure quality instruction of FEMA Certified training courses.
- Works with subject matter experts and NDPTC staff to integrate specific qualifications and classroom needs into course-specific components of the Instructor Development Program in addition to general instructor requirements and desired technique utilization.
- Assists with the recruitment, review, evaluation, selection, and contract negotiations for professional instructional staff.
- Facilitates and coordinates instructor logistics to ensure successful delivery of FEMA Certified training courses.
- Drives to transport equipment and supplies to and from project sites and for trainings.
- Keeps up to date on new and emerging learning/classroom techniques related to coaching, instructor development and training.
- Provide reports on an as‑needed basis as requested.
- Education Bachelor`s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Business Administration, Urban Planning, Public Administration, or related field. (Associate`s Degree from an accredited community college and at least two (2) years of relevant work experience, or High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and at least five (5) years of relevant work experience may substitute for a Bachelor`s Degree.).
- Experience One to three (1-3) years of progressively responsible professional experience involving program administration, coordination of adult training programs, or instructor coaching and evaluation.
- Knowledge Basic knowledge ofand demonstrated ability to identify and assess the capabilities of existing instructors, recruitment needs, and professional development needs and requirements. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the FEMA course development and delivery process.
- Abilities & Skills Must be able to meet and maintain the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) security requirements to access work location. Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien. Strong ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a positive, service‑oriented manner with colleagues, internal and external customers/organizations, vendors, groups, and project staff. Proficient in relevant word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision. Must possess a valid driver`s license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal driver`s insurance equivalent to Hawai‘i`s No‑Fault Driver`s Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment.
