Temporary High School Japanese Language TeacherSALARY RANGE
: $54,630 – $114,862 annually based on degree and student contact hours
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for teaching multiple levels of Japanese language. At Mid-Pacific, faculty are responsible for designing an instructional environment that encourages learning, motivates students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to establish and continue a firm foundation to perpetuate the learning experience in post-secondary education and/or career opportunities. Essential to this role is the ability to utilize all resources available to establish a cooperative relationship with parents, colleagues, administrators, and community members to support each student’s opportunity to learn and grow in educational and life experiences.
This position includes active participation in the school's operation to support our unwavering commitment to the principles of deeper learning. This position reports to the Middle & High School Assistant Principal for Academics.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Teach multiple levels of high school Japanese language up to levels 3 and 4.
- Instruct students using a wide range of student-centered strategies, which engage students in the learning process.
- Incorporate educational technology into lesson design to enhance student learning.
- Differentiate instruction to meet student needs.
- Teach core concepts and skills as set out in the World Language Department’s scope and sequence and always directed to the vision and mission of the school.
- Prepare lesson plans following curriculum guidelines set by the department, school and external examining bodies.
- Collaborate with other members of the department in developing and updating the Japanese language curriculum.
- Design and implement lessons and formative and summative assessments of students’ learning in alignment with Mid Pacific’s Assessment Guidelines.
- Post homework assignments weekly and record formative and summative results electronically using the school’s information system program.
- Maintain effective classroom management, liaising with deans and parents as necessary.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to respond effectively.
- Participate in faculty and departmental meetings and attend professional development workshops and educational conferences.
- Carry out all homeroom and advisory responsibilities.
- Determine budget needs and purchase pre-approved equipment and/or materials for courses taught.
- Regular and predictable attendance at work.
- Provide in-person classroom instruction, supervision, and support to students during the school day.
- Other duties may be assigned.

- Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviors.
- Identify, assess if necessary, and control hazards within the area of responsibility.
- Ensure that equipment/supplies are properly maintained.
- Maintain relevant knowledge of safety laws.
