Soil & Material Testing Technician – Entry Level (Honolulu)The Department of Design and Construction, Civil Division, is hiring two Soil & Material Testing Technicians to perform routine standardized tests on soil and construction materials to determine suitability for construction purposes. These positions receive training in both laboratory and field testing.
What You’ll Do- Learn, practice, and assist with laboratory testing of soil, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt in accordance with industry standards.
- Assist in preparing test reports, documentation, and chain‑of‑custody documents.
- Assist experienced technicians with field testing to provide data for in‑situ site conditions as part of independent quality assurance and acceptance by the project manager, department, or agency.
- Maintain laboratory facilities and equipment.
- Operate a motor vehicle to and from various offices, job sites, and field sites.
- Exposure to chemicals, lifting and carrying heavy (up to 50-pound) objects, and traversing rough and exposed terrain.

Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
Experience RequirementTwo years of general work experience.
License RequirementPossession of an appropriate valid driver's license.
