This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.
It is in the SUPERVISION/MANAGEMENT Work Category at the SENIOR Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA OC/CE/PACIFIC FIELD COMMAND, INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES BRANCH.
Duties- Responsible for strategic planning for the Defense Information System Network (DISN) transport in the Indo-Pacific theater. Works with higher headquarters in the planning, engineering, the implementation, and integration of DISN transport infrastructure.
- Provides team leadership on DISN subsystems (Optical Transport, Internet Protocol/Multiprotocol Labeling Switching (IP/MPLS), network management, etc).
- Provides analytical evaluations and status reports to management and/or monitors the progress of the projects and initiates actions to resolve any problems.
- Chairs or participates as the DISA Pacific's representative in joint meetings, committees, study groups, etc., on assigned projects. Assists in the day-to-day implementation of current DISA objectives to provide new capability services to the DISN.
- Provides engineering assistance and support for existing and proposed delivery systems., in conjunction with the Quality Assurance Branch, to resolve equipment and system problems with existing systems and those being installed and tested.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months.
- Required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450 Executive Branch Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.
- This is a mission essential position.
- This is a drug testing position.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) as a condition of employment.
