DER Program Support Specialist
Location:
Honolulu, Oahu;
Kahului, Maui; or Hilo, Hawaii Island.
Position Type:
Non-Exempt. Number of Vacancies: 1.
Hiring Range: $72,500.00 to $80,000.00.
Responsibilities- Reviews, processes and documents applications for larger and/or more complex CER renewable energy systems. Analyzes compliance documentation including inverter settings and equipment specifications. Maintains contact and provides timely status updates to customers and contractors.
- Provides support to meet program milestones and objectives in an evolving public, regulatory, and company business strategic environment. Implements strategies to meet program objectives and implements program related policies, practices, and procedures in response to strategic drivers.
- Schedules project site verification tests. Confirms installed equipment is consistent with submitted documentation. Accurately documents site verification test procedures and results. Conveys accurate information of any necessary remedial actions and requirements as required. Follows up as needed.
- Conducts field checks to verify and document compliance/non‑compliance.
- Collaborates with Field Services and Revenue Protection to identify any undocumented Customer Energy Resources flagged by field personnel.
- Collaborates with other internal teams to install power monitoring equipment to analyze customer load and other data as needed.
- Implements new technologies and policies. Remains well‑versed in tariff rules.
- May assist with project coordination including setup, installation of data collection instrumentation or other equipment at customer sites; documents, downloads and analyzes data.
- Participates in company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities to prepare for such emergency response.
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree (Bachelor of Science or Master of Science) from an ABET-accredited college or university is desirable.
- Working knowledge of power systems engineering, project management and coordination, usually acquired through college-level courses or equivalent experience.
- Hands‑on experience and knowledge of in‑building electric power distribution systems and equipment.
- Hands‑on experience with data logging and metering instrumentation.
- Working knowledge of personal computers and standard software applications such as Microsoft Office. Knowledge of MS Project, Visio and Project Management software tools is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of NESC, NEC, NFPA standards and construction safety codes and standards (i.e., OSHA and HIOSH) is desirable.
- Self‑starter with a clear ability to plan, organize, execute, and report on work assignments with minimal supervision.
- Ability to articulate complex requirements and processes, craft and conceptualize new ideas rapidly, identify root causes of issues and quickly develop solutions.
- Effective written, oral and listening, presentation and interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of the company and with outside contractors, consultants, governmental agencies, community groups and customers.
- Analytical, organizational, self‑management, planning, and conceptual skills to handle high volume of multiple projects, programs, and priorities concurrently.
- Ability to manage projects end‑to‑end within established time frames while achieving desired objectives.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret electrical and mechanical construction plans, installation wiring diagrams and shop drawings.
- Must have or be able to qualify for State of Hawaii driver’s license to travel to customer sites on a frequent basis. Must meet the standards for frequent required driving positions consistent with the Hiring Standards for Required Company Drivers policy.
- Several (3‑5) years of experience in the engineering, construction, or related field; preferably in the utility industry.
