Supervisor, Electric Utility Permitting - Oahu

Responsibilities- Supervises the Permits Planner and provides guidance to project personnel on land use permit requirements and lead times.
- Manages both planning and archaeological consultants to establish a complete permitting service package.
- Fosters and maintains positive relationships with federal, state and county agencies, expediting approval processes.
- Reviews deliverables such as permit applications, submittals, and agreements; makes necessary changes and submits to relevant agencies.
- Administers policies and monitors governmental agencies for changes to statutes, ordinances and regulations.
- Reviews legislative bills affecting land use permits and drafts written testimony as needed.
- Coordinates review and responses for Chapter 343 requests by outside companies.
- Attends agency coordination meetings and facilitates distribution of information.
- Provides training and guidance to employees and consultants on land use permits and archaeological policies.
- Participates in company emergency response activities.
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, environmental science, urban planning, or related field.
- Thorough knowledge of land use permit requirements and city, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Working knowledge of power engineering principles, project management, construction management policies, and LEAN continuous improvement.
- Experience dealing with governmental permits and approvals (8+ years) and supervisory experience is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of computer systems (Excel, MS Word, etc.) and safe workplace principles.
- Hawaii Professional Engineer license or certification as a Planner (AICP) desired.
- Valid State of Hawaii driver’s license.
