bLeidos is seeking a Lead Distribution Engineer (Relocation Available)
Job Overview: This role involves working directly with clients to ensure high‑quality electric utility design engineering. You will develop work packages, support analysis, and coordinate design for various utility projects using GIS, SAP, and Bentley systems.
Responsibilities- Develop the work packages for OH, UG, URD, Conventional UG, Network UG, Make Ready and Street Light projects, using customer GIS and WMS systems such as SAP and Bentley Expert Designer.
- Review work provided by Client and assess requirements of scopes.
- Be comfortable in both a field and office setting and be trained in customer engineering and construction standards.
- Support pole structural analysis, guying calculations, cable pulling calculations, coordination of protective devices, and calculations of electric demand and fault currents.
- Develop estimated costs for projects and create Bill of Materials.
- Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements, assessing and developing design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments, work permit development, easements and ROW applications, and design of mainline vault medium voltage switch gear, network system design, and distribution system protection and coordination.
- Perform reviews of work by other engineers for client submittal.
- Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design.
- Comply with Leidos and Client Safety requirements as well as design and quality expectations.
- Travel to customer/job sites as required; overnight travel may be required (15-25% travel). Customer/job related travel will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates.
- Be able to utilize personal vehicle.
- 4+ years of prior relevant experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET accredited institution preferred; additional relevant experience/certifications may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree.
- Experience with OH framing and design, UG distribution design, UG network projects, voltage conversion projects, road widening projects, major underground projects, conductor replacements, and OH to UG conversions.
- Experience with MH/Duct System requirements.
- Experience designing within building and street transformer vaults.
- Experience with NESC Standards.
- Proficient with O-Calc and line design as well as SAG
10 analysis. - Experience with AutoCAD and/or Microstation for electrical distribution design.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to utilize personal vehicle.
- EIT/FE credentials or PE license.
- Experience with design tools such as Pole Foreman, SOCKET, and Spida-Calc.
- Experience with Hawaiian Electric design standards.
