Leidos is seeking a Lead Distribution Engineer in Oahu, HI (Relocation Available!) who is passionate about electric utility design engineering. We’re looking for someone who is dedicated to ensuring that every project, no matter how simple or complex, is of exceptional quality. You'll be working directly with clients to make sure that Leidos' reputation for high-quality work is always maintained. If you join us in this role, you’ll gain expertise in a variety of areas, including NESC, Structural Pole Modeling, Electrical Power Calculations, GIS design training, Field Data Collection, and Client Design Standards.

• Develop the work packages for OH, UG, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects using customer GIS and WMS systems such as SAP and Bentley Expert Designer.
• Review work provided by the client and assess scope requirements.
• Be comfortable in both field and office settings and trained in customer engineering and construction standards.
• Support structural analysis, guying calculations, cable pulling calculations, coordination of protective devices, and calculations of electric demand and fault currents.
• Develop estimated costs for projects and create BOMs.
• Coordinate conflicting utilities and other field engineering design requirements; assess and develop design packages for complex cable/conduit projects in dense urban environments; handle work permit development, easements, ROW applications, and design of mainline vault medium voltage switch gear, network system design, and distribution system protection and coordination.
• Perform reviews of work by other engineers for submittal to clients.
• Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles and design.
• Comply with Leidos and client safety requirements as well as design and quality expectations.
• Travel is anticipated and reimbursed at IRS approved rates; overnight travel may be required.

• 4+ years of prior relevant experience.
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from an ABET-accredited institution preferred; additional relevant experience or certifications may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
• Experience with OH framing and design, UG distribution design, voltage conversion projects, road widening projects, major underground projects, conductor replacements, and OH to UG conversions.
• Experience with NESC standards.
• Proficient with O-Calc, line design, and SAG
  10 analysis.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Micro Station for electrical distribution design.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Travel may be required (15–25%).
• Ability to utilize a personal vehicle.

• EIT/FE credentials or PE license.
• Experience with design tools such as Pole Foreman, SOCKET, and Spida-Calc.
• Experience with Hawaiian Electric design standards.
