Full Time Ship Superintendent
Job Summary: The Ship Superintendent supports the planning, coordination, and execution of ship repair work items, working closely with internal teams, subcontractors, OEM representatives, and customers to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within scope. This role requires the ability to interpret ship repair specifications and drawings, assist with labor cost estimating, and operate effectively in an industrial maritime environment while maintaining strong communication and teamwork skills.
Job Description:
- Manage, plan, and coordinate ship repair work items as part of the Project Team
- Coordinate with other departments (QA, safety, production), subcontractors, OEM technical reps, and customers throughout the repair
- Be capable of reading and understanding ship repair specifications, drawings, schematics
- Assist with labor cost estimating
- Be comfortable in an industrial, maritime environment
- Be a good communicator and a team player
Skills Required:
- PMP certification desirable
- Knowledge and understanding federal contracts is helpful
- Knowledge of shipboard lockout and tag out procedures
- Previous experience or training in work sequencing and scheduling
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and general computer skills
Education/Training/
Certifications:
- Engineering degree or related degree or equivalent work experience is desirable
Additional Requirements:
- Must show proof of legal right to work in the United States and US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access
- Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Must be able to obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites
- All candidates must submit to and pass a post‑offer drug screening and background check before employment begins.
- Valid State of Hawaii REAL ‑Compliant Drivers' License in good standing or a valid U.S. Passport in addition to a valid Hawaii Driver's License, if you do not have a REAL ‑Compliant Driver's License, class 3 or higher
- Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites on time for the start of shift
- Must be flexible in work hours
