Engineer I – $5,596 per month (EN-18, Step
D)
Engineer II – $6,043 to $6,921 per month (EN-20, Step D to I)
Engineer III – $6,528 to $7,475 per month (EN-22, Step D to I)
Note:
Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.
- The Engineer I performs routine professional engineering work requiring the application of basic engineering principles and techniques, according to specific instructions and following well‑established practices; performs other related duties as assigned.
- The Engineer II performs specific and limited professional engineering assignments requiring application of standard professional methods and techniques, which may involve minor phases of a broad project; performs other related duties as assigned.
- The Engineer III performs moderately difficult professional engineering work in the planning, design, construction, maintenance, operation and/or evaluation of engineering projects or facilities, or assists higher‑level engineers on more complex projects; performs other related duties as assigned.
- Applicants will be placed on the eligible list for all levels for which they are qualified.
- Legal authorization to work: citizen, national or permanent resident of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
- Basic education: a bachelor's degree from a school of engineering at an accredited four‑year college or university. Relevant substitutions apply.
- Note:
Applicants who will graduate within three months and meet the minimum requirements upon graduation may apply. Submit official transcript and a letter from department head or registrar verifying enrollment, expected graduation date and major with application. - Engineering experience: none required for Level I; one year for Level II; two years for Level III of progressively responsible professional engineering experience.
- Driver's license: some positions may require a valid driver's license.
- Special requirements: ability to lift and carry loads of various weights with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance / Federal criminal history record check: persons considered for positions requiring unescorted access to secured airport areas must undergo fingerprint‑based check; no disqualifying convictions within 10 years. Cost of check is candidate's responsibility.
- Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) clearance / Federal criminal history record check: persons considered for positions requiring unescorted access to secured harbor areas must undergo fingerprint‑based check; no disqualifying convictions within 7 years. Cost of check is candidate's responsibility; reimbursed upon hire upon receipt of TWIC receipt.
