2nd Assistant EngineerUnder supervision as delegated from the Chief Engineer to the First Assistant Engineer, serves as an assistant in assigned matters pertaining to engineering and administration of the Engineering Department. Serves as Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch (OICEW), supervising the daily work of junior Engineering Department personnel sharing the same watch schedule. Under direction from the First Assistant Engineer, manages routine operations for loading and shifting fuel and ballast in the ship’s tanks in accord with requirements for plant operation and vessel stability within prescribed limits, and is responsible for all maintenance/repair tasks on these systems.
Performs all other duties as directed by the Chief Engineer or First Assistant Engineer. Employee will work on a rotational schedule based on operational needs.
Requirements:
Motor Propelled Vessels License - Unlimited, Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch (OICEW), USCG STCW Medical Certificate. Current MMC and required STCW documentation of training and validity for licenses. Valid TWIC and US Passport required. Ability to pass pre-employment drug test or hold current drug testing verification letter. Must be US citizen.
The Third Engineer is responsible for the operation of all engine room machinery while on duty and is expected to maintain clean engineering spaces, complete all routine service, effect minor repair work and adjustments as necessary, and ensure that safety and legal requirements are adhered to. Serves as Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch (OICEW), supervising the daily work of junior Engineering Department personnel sharing the same watch schedule.
The 3rd Engineer is tasked with maintenance of auxiliary machinery. The Third Engineer is responsible for keeping the 1AE and CE apprised of any abnormal conditions, problems, and work in progress.
