Bring your problem-solving mindset, entrepreneurial spirit, and established expertise to WJE's Honolulu office , where we are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer (i.e., Senior Associate) to join our dynamic team of architects and engineers.

Responsibilities:

* Technical project execution for the day-to-day success of multiple concurrent projects , including:

* Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and project teams

* Leveraging a principles-first approach to develop practical solutions for challenging engineering problems in combination with a deep understanding of codes, standards, and historical industry practices

* Self-performing and advising others in complex analysis, repair design, hands-on fieldwork, and preparation of technically excellent client deliverables (e.g., written reports, presentations, construction details, and specifications)

* Providing high-quality technical reviews of work completed by others

* Sealing project documents as the Engineer of Record, as appropriate

* Project management , including client development, project initiation, scoping, and assembling appropriate project teams; and managing internal and external client expectations, deliverables, and financials

* Mentorship , including exemplifying WJE's culture of shared destiny and knowledge sharing to better the team around you: locally and company-wide, formally and informally, on-and-off projects, for technical topics and overall career development

* Contributions to local practice development and company-wide objectives , including:

* Proactively fostering new and existing client relationships in pursuit of project work you are excited about

* Developing genuine local rapport with contractors, designers, and building officials in Hawaii's unique culture

* Participating in the attraction, development, and engagement of up-and-coming WJE professionals

* Collaborating with other WJE practice leaders for in-house knowledge-sharing and training initiatives

* Engaging in meaningful involvement in industry-related professional organizations, conferences, and technical committees
