Duties and Responsibilities
(
* Denotes Essential Functions)
- * Performs site investigations & feasibility studies & provides technical consultation & budget estimates in response to requests for alteration, new construction, & energy management of electrical power & lighting systems.
- * Performs load & lighting calculations & applies technical design skills, including drafting, to create working drawings & specifications for power & lighting systems.
- Energy Management - Power & Lighting:
Performs engineering service in the implementation of energy conservation measures. Performs energy audits of building system & operations & provides technical assistance in evaluation energy conservation measures. - * Reviews engineering studies & design proposals of consulting engineers to insure compliance with University standards.
- * Project Management:
Coordinates activities required to insure the smooth flow of electrical power & lighting systems projects during design phase. - Serves as a spokesman, interpreter, and dispatcher of information among consultants, contractors and the University community.
- * Reviews system designs, specifications and material submittals of consultants and contractors for compliance with University standards.
- * Provides technical assistance to trades personnel and University for troubleshooting work, minor renovation projects and preventative maintenance program development.
- * Reviews design and provides technical guidance for electrical portion of Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) and repair and Maintenance (R&M) projects managed by UH engineers and architects.
- * Performs periodic on-site inspection of electrical and related work to ensure conformance to the design and proper workmanship.
- Other duties as assigned.
