Job Description
Hitachi Rail Honolulu is looking for an enthusiastic self‑motivated O&M Engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. The position is based in Pearl City, HI, USA.
Responsibilities- Assure project delivery, leading O&M requirements management across the overall project lifecycle and coordinating documentation at the system and subsystem levels.
- Arrange training and ensure proper interface management between the design and build team and the O&M team, while returning experience to product engineering.
- Provide monitoring, oversight, and technical support of telecommunications and network system equipment in accordance with wiring diagrams, schematics, and operation manuals.
- Observe and monitor system components to detect potential failures and locate causes of malfunction.
- Act as subject‑matter expert to field technicians during troubleshooting, identification, and resolution of system issues.
- Conduct monthly failure reporting and corrective action analysis for signaling and telecommunications subsystems.
- Maintain the physical hardware and software configuration management of the signaling system via the Maintenance Management Information System.
- Conduct physical configuration audits, analyze log files, and provide corrective action and improvement.
- Interface with subsystem engineers in remediation of complex multi‑discipline problems.
- Support on‑site spare parts management and the repair cycle while tracking spare parts usage.
- Ensure subsystem conformance to technical specifications and tolerances.
- Act as primary point of contact during signaling and telecommunications change management activities.
- 2 to 5+ years of field experience with rolling‑stock systems, components, and testing equipment.
- Working knowledge of rail transit signaling systems such as ATC, CBTC, or PTC.
- Ability to use common and specialized tools and test equipment.
- Team player with strong analytical mind, able to work independently or in a team with minimal supervision.
- Experience with Maintenance Management Information Systems (MMIS).
- Basic knowledge of rail transit subsystems such as ATS, vehicle, telecommunication, platform screen gates, traction electrification, SCADA, CCTV, radios, GPS.
- Experience troubleshooting faults on ATC equipment.
- Basic understanding of software configuration management and programming logic.
- Basic knowledge of Linux or UNIX operating systems.
- Understanding of operation and maintenance processes.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Bachelor's degree in telecommunication, electrical, computer science, or related discipline.
English proficiency.
Salary Range$93,000 – $139,500, based on experience and qualifications.
