Salary Range$18-$20 per hour
SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Safety Intern to join our team. As an intern, you will be a part of promoting and maintaining a safe environment on construction sites and Operations & Maintenance sites in Hawaii. You will have the opportunity to have a hands‑on experience working alongside our experienced Safety personnel, Superintendents, Quality Control and Project Managers and contribute to the successful completion of projects while prioritizing the well‑being of all personnel.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Responsible for identifying hazardous workplace conditions.
- Being involved in daily jobsite inspections to identify hazards, unsafe conditions and non‑compliance with safety regulations.
- Reporting and record keeping of daily audits.
- Assisting in accident, incident or near miss investigations to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Takes samples and measurements of hazardous materials, and coordinates the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards.
- Participates and develops the training of employees on safety policies, procedures, regulations.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state health and safety regulations and ensures necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines.
- Study EM 385-1-1 and OSHA 1910/1926 to get a good understanding of the laws required to do the job in an efficient manner.
- Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.
- Participate in emergency response procedures and drills to ensure readiness for potential emergencies or accidents on the construction site.
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
- No prior experience or training.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
- Strong academic performance in relevant coursework, including Safety Management, Ergonomics or Industrial Hygiene.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing project requirements.
- Associate's Degree (AA) in progress.

- Occasionally exposure to blood borne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials.
- While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 35 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, or continually lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
