Engineer I performs routine professional engineering work requiring basic engineering principles and techniques, following specific instructions and well‑established practices, and performs other related duties as assigned.

Engineer II performs specific and limited professional engineering assignments requiring standard methods and techniques, possibly involving minor phases of a broader project, and performs other related duties as assigned.

Engineer III performs moderately difficult professional engineering work in planning, design, construction, maintenance, operation, and/or evaluation of engineering projects or facilities or assists higher‑level engineers on more complex projects, and performs other related duties as assigned.

• Legal authorization: citizen, national, permanent resident alien, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
• Basic education: bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four‑year college or university (substitutions apply as described in complete Minimum Qualification Requirements).
• Graduation timing: applicants graduating within three months who meet the requirements upon graduation will be accepted for examination; provide official transcript and letter verifying enrollment, expected graduation date, and major with application.
• Engineering experience: none required for Level I; one year for Level II; two years for Level III of progressively responsible professional engineering experience.
• Driver’s license: some positions may require a valid driver’s license.
• Special requirements: some positions may require the ability to lift and carry loads of various weights with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance – Federal Criminal History Records Check: required for positions with unescorted access to secured airport areas; applicants must not have been convicted of disqualifying offenses within ten years; record check cost is applicant’s responsibility.
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) clearance – Federal Criminal History Records Check: required for positions with unescorted access to secured harbor areas; applicants must not have been convicted of disqualifying offenses within seven years; record check cost is applicant’s responsibility, reimbursed upon hire with receipt.
