Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Estimator to join our team in Honolulu, Hawaii. Estimates will vary from AECOM Estimates and AACE Classification Class 1-5 conceptual (Order of Magnitude) to Detailed Estimates. These estimates will include detailed take‑off, cost estimating, construction methodology, tact and approach, determination of crewing and productivity, proposal schedule generation, subcontractor/vendor solicitation and coordination, scope development, evaluation/comparison, bid day spreadsheets, bid report preparation, constructability reviews, and value engineering.
Travel to pre‑bids and site visits may be required.
- Capable of quickly learning the company estimating systems and processes.
- Understands estimating terminology and measures and recognizes estimating processes/project actions that may impact the project.
- Capable of managing the preparation of an estimate and supporting team.
- Collaborates with project teams in development of strategies and plans.
- Participates in analyzing and using estimations to predict key project issues.
- Documents assumptions clearly for
1) communication with the project team during the bid process and
2) execution of work. - Understanding and application of financial analysis and calculation of profitability metrics.
- Understands construction means, methods, and sequences – multiple disciplines.
- Work directly with subcontractors to resolve technical matters during proposals, negotiation and contract execution.
- Evaluates suitability of scope and execution plan for basis of estimate.
- Initiates the preparation of an Estimate Plan (approach, techniques, level of effort, cost, schedule), Basis of Estimate and qualifications.
- Prepares bid tabulations responding to the customer/Request for Proposal requirements.
- Develops current project estimate comparisons with previous performance and market benchmark data.
- Review and analysis of variances in cost and schedule and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Coordinate and gather all information for special reports, analyses and requests.
- Perform regular review of project cost data and communicates with project teams for actions.
- Communication with subcontractors, vendors, project teams and clients as necessary.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Administration in Business, Construction Management or related field plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- 4+ years of estimating‑related experience.
- Demonstrated experience in estimating projects from $1M to $500M.
- Experience in civil, structural, mechanical and electrical.
- Proficiency in On‑Screen Takeoff and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Position may require limited travel based on client/project requirements.
- Organized, self‑starter with a strong ability to communicate.
- Ability to work individually or in teams.
- Ability to communicate, organize and manage multiple estimates.
- Field experience and contracting experience.
- Demonstrated experience in Federal cost estimating.
- MCACES Certification.
- This position does not offer relocation assistance.
- This position will be located in the Honolulu, HI office, with hybrid flexibility.
- Sponsorship for US Employment Authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience and work location. The range for this position is $80,000 to $115,000.
