SummaryThe Environmental Manager (EM) is responsible for managing and implementing IMIA's Environmental Program for work performed on Hawaii projects, including JBPHH. The EM ensures that IMIA personnel and each subcontractor performing work under IMIA's scope comply with applicable federal, state of Hawaii, local, NAVSEA, JBPHH, contract, and customer environmental requirements. The EM must provide on-site environmental oversight during work operations as required by the Hawaii Local Standard Items.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Serve as IMIA's designated Environmental Manager for assigned Hawaii/JBPHH work and manage the implementation of the Contractor's Environmental Program.
- Ensure compliance of all IMIA employees, temporary labor, vendors, visitors, and subcontractors with applicable federal, state, and local environmental requirements.
- Guarantee that the EM or an appointed AEM is on-site during work operations at all times and coordinate coverage to prevent gaps in required environmental oversight.
- Maintain appointment documentation signed by a company officer naming the EM and each AEM, indicating titles, responsibilities, and qualifications.
- Interpret, communicate, and enforce environmental requirements from contract documents, NAVSEA Standard Items, Hawaii Local Standard Items, base instructions, permits, work packages, and customer direction.
- Conduct environmental pre-planning for assigned work, reviewing scope, hazards, regulated materials, waste streams, storage areas, discharge points, air-emission concerns, and spill prevention controls.
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental plans, procedures, inspection records, waste profiles, manifests, training records, spill documentation, environmental reports, and other required project records.
- Perform routine environmental inspections of active work areas, staging areas, containment systems, hazardous material storage, hazardous waste accumulation areas, stormwater controls, spill kits, and pollution-prevention measures.
- Identify environmental deficiencies, initiate corrective actions, verify closures, and communicate trends or repeated issues to project leadership and the ESH Department.
- Coordinate with Operations, Project Management, subcontractors, customer representatives, and regulatory or base environmental personnel to resolve environmental concerns and maintain project continuity.
