Senior Performance Engineer – O&M Engineering

Support the O&M Engineering team by analyzing the performance characteristics of our photovoltaic and battery storage projects to ensure operations meet or exceed industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead transition from construction to operating assets.
  • Troubleshoot operating systems and review performance data to identify issues.
  • Perform or review capacity and performance ratio tests for operating projects.
  • Validate production estimates and meteorological data against operational data.
  • Measure fleet performance against KPI metrics, compare actual versus forecasted performance.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports with variance analysis.
  • Seek and evaluate proposals for analysis services and consultants.
  • Conduct job safety assessments and safety walks to identify hazards.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams to identify underperformance and recommend improvements.
  • Document and communicate engineering issues that can be mitigated by better design.
  • Utilize drones, thermal imaging, and advanced analytics to reduce labor and improve performance.
  • Participate in AES CE growth planning and process improvement initiatives.
  • Educate team on technology trends, best practices, and safety.
Primary Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field.
  • 5+ years professional engineering experience focused on measuring and maintaining system performance.
  • Strong understanding of industry trends in production tools and processes.
  • Proficiency with advanced analysis and database tools for developing metrics and dashboards.
  • Effective use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to read and comprehend equipment/facility schematics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to a quality safety culture and incident‑free environment.
  • Willingness to travel within the U.S. to support PV and BESS assets.

Plus Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or pursuing.
  • Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Experience with PV and Battery Energy Storage System design and interconnection.
  • Proficiency with PowerBI, machine learning, or advanced analysis tools.
  • Experience with Data Acquisition and SCADA systems.
  • Spanish language skills.
