Job Title
There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Design & Construction, Civil Division in Honolulu.
What You Will DoCoordinate and oversee the development of the project plans, reports, permits, specifications, and cost estimates for projects such as bridges, utility adjustments, stream transitions, retaining walls, drainage structures, earth stabilization mitigation improvements, rockslide mitigation, and other concrete, steel, and timber structures.
Coordinate and oversee the development of the bridge inspection reports and load ratings for bridge inspection projects.
Maintain project administration of the project by monitoring the project schedule, reviewing consultant invoices, and preparing contract amendments as necessary.
There is one (1) vacancy with the Department of Planning and Permitting, Building Division, in Honolulu.
What You Will DoServe as a technical authority for complex mechanical and plumbing code issues, including interpretation of ambiguous or non-routine code provisions.
Study the Building Division related codes and other pertinent ordinances, non-technical provisions of the Electrical and Plumbing Codes, and the rules and regulations of other agencies, such as the State Health, Labor, and Fire Departments, on a continuous basis for the purpose of eliminating deficiencies and conflicting provisions.
Update training and certification requirements for special inspectors pursuant to the adopted IBC chapter 17.
Review and approve plans and specifications for compliance with accepted engineering practices of Building Division related codes and other pertinent ordinances for which building permit applications have been made.
Serve as a senior technical specialist that may provide technical guidance or review work of other engineers, but does not have routine supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualification RequirementsAt time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
Education Requirement:
Equivalent to graduation from a regionally-accredited four year college or university with a bachelor's degree in an engineering specialty.
Experience Requirement:
One year of registered professional structural engineering experience.
License Requirement:
Possession of a valid license as a professional structural engineer in the State of Hawaii. Applicants with a current out-of-state professional structural engineer license must obtain their Hawaii license prior to appointment. Valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3/automobile), as required.
