Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Pacific has awarded DHO JV a $2.8 billion task order – under an $8 billion indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ), multiple-award construction contract awarded in November 2021 to DHO JV to replace a dry dock at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility at Joint Base Pearl Harbor.
JOB OVERVIEWWe are seeking an experienced Environmental Professional with at least five years of relevant experience in environmental assessment and management. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in soil sampling, hazardous waste management, and water quality analysis. After initial training, this position will include night and weekend shifts, with management responsibilities, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations for a variety of construction activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist with soil sampling and analysis to assess contamination levels and compliance with environmental regulations.
- Monitor and analyze water quality, including sampling, testing, and reporting on results.
- Assist with hazardous waste handling, segregation and disposal processes, while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Prepare reports and documentation for regulatory submissions and internal use.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including clients, regulatory agencies, and community members.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior staff on environmental best practices and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in environmental assessment and management.
- Comfortable interacting with construction workers, supervisors, and others on site.
- Experience with some of the following: soil sampling, hazardous waste management, and water quality monitoring.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)).
- Familiar with air emissions and excavation monitoring field techniques to guide in soil management, and possible mitigations, during earthwork.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Certification in environmental management or related field (e.g., HAZWOPER) is a plus.
