Arborist

Responsible for planning, inspecting, and overseeing vegetation management activities to ensure safe, reliable electric service. Performs field inspections of transmission and distribution corridors, assesses tree risk and clearance requirements, coordinates trimming/removal work with contractors, and ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Acts as a liaison between the utility, contractors, and property owners to support system reliability and wildfire risk mitigation.

Vegetation & Tree Risk Assessment
- Ability to evaluate tree health, growth patterns, and clearance risks near transmission and distribution lines.

Utility Safety & Compliance Knowledge
- Understanding of OSHA, ANSI A300, ISA standards, and utility-specific safety requirements.

Field Inspection & Reporting
- Strong skills in conducting corridor inspections, documenting findings, and producing clear reports.

Contractor Oversight
- Experience coordinating, directing, and quality-checking vegetation management contractors.

Communication & Stakeholder Management
- Ability to work with property owners, municipalities, internal crews, and external contractors.

Wildfire Risk Mitigation Awareness
- Knowledge of fuel reduction, defensible space, and vegetation strategies that reduce fire risk (especially in high-risk areas).

Problem-Solving & Decision-Making
- Sound judgment in prioritizing work, addressing emergent hazards, and balancing safety, reliability, and cost.
