Position: ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN with Security Clearance
Duties
* You will assist in the planning, development, and coordination of the complete submarine non-nuclear work control and test programs.
* You will review and approve test procedures and work controls for use in the work control and test programs.
* You will maintain status of systems, components and ship conditions.
* You will provide certification of the readiness of the secondary systems to support nuclear evolutions.
* You will review and approve SUBSAFE test requirements used in test programs.
* You will integrate ship systems, ships force, and shop operations to successfully implement testing, work controls and project schedules.
* You will coordinate and validate required manning from the shops, ships force, engineering and support codes availability to execute planned work control and testing.
* You will analyze work performed and ensure work control and test procedures cover system and component condition changes.
* You will collaborate with stakeholders to develop innovative plans for routine to unusual conditions and circumstances.
* You will advise and execute difficult and complex analytical techniques to identify areas of improvement and develop solutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of testing and work control deliverables. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
* Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
* Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
* This is a bargaining unit position.
* You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
* This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
* This position requires exposure to high noise levels. Qualifications GS-10:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector analyzing and evaluating technical engineering procedures or work methods to identify and resolve operational problems or work control deficiencies and recommend improved work procedures or corrective action in support of shipboard maintenance or operations on ship's systems or components.

GS-09:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting in preparing or executing engineering instructions, technical documents and reviewing the required materials or resources needed for conducting testing for ship's components or systems in support of the Work Control and Testing Program.
