Job Summary
Associate Service Consultant – CenterPoint Energy’s Electric Operations, Service Delivery Team in Houston, TX. Responsible for serving as the single point of contact for customer distribution projects, coordinating projects from inception to completion, and ensuring compliance with safety, code, and customer satisfaction requirements.
Essential Functions- Collaborate with multiple departments, customers, municipalities, outside consulting firms, and other utilities to gather information required to execute projects accurately and in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain business partnerships with elected officials and employees of city, county, and state entities to effectively service customers.
- Support community and civic organizations through active participation and assist with project coordination and fund‑raising events.
- Demonstrate project coordination skills for distribution capital and maintenance programs.
- Gather project information, prepare estimates, analyze data, and design electrical and street light distribution facilities.
- Represent the company in service extension negotiations related to service locations.
- Ensure customer obligations are met, negotiate and secure payment of projects, research easement rights, and maintain completion of construction within specified time frames.
- Identify, evaluate, and, if necessary, correct pre‑existing issues related to compliance with governmental regulations, code violations, and CenterPoint Energy standards.
- Review facilities for compliance with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), state, city and county governmental ordinances and CenterPoint Energy standards; obtain working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC).
- Perform field inspections as needed for final project approval, foreign cable attachments, customer installed facilities, and miscellaneous customer requests.
- Participate in CenterPoint Energy’s Emergency Operation Plan (EOP), including extended work hours for facility inspections and service restoration.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required; relevant job‑related or industry‑related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
ExperienceTwo (2) years of prior work experience preferred; experience with an electric utility company and/or project coordination for an electric utility designing overhead and underground electrical distribution systems will be considered first.
