Your Opportunity as the Technologist, Process Engineering-Pet Research & Development
In this role you will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and implementing proprietary process technologies and equipment for our innovation roadmap. You will drive process development for innovation from concept through commercialization, resulting in the launch of new pet snack or food products. This position is also responsible for the improvement of existing process, value engineering, and technology development to enable new product development or cost improvement.
You must be comfortable leading functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk and/or complexity.
Location:
Working onsite at our Orrville, OH Corporate Offices
- Support/Lead the development, scale-up, and commercialization of Innovation, Renovation & Value Engineering initiatives.
- Lead commissioning and support Operations with qualification of new product & process technologies, as well as improving existing process technologies.
- Develop standard operating procedures, manufacturing specifications etc and communicate effectively with key stakeholders in manufacturing, copacker etc.
- Apply fundamental engineering principles – mass & energy balances, heat transfer, designed experimentation & data analyses, process flow diagrams etc for appropriate decision making and documentation for knowledge capture.
- Interface with equipment suppliers, service providers, manufacturing facilities and relevant business functions, including marketing and supply chain, to achieve goals.
- Assess, with guidance, legal and environmental aspects, and patent opportunities, for new technologies/processes.
- Collect and analyze data from suppliers, plant operations, customers, and consumers.
- Design and execute experiments at both supplier sites and in plant operations.
- Validate improvements/corrective actions that will deliver the desired benefits.

What we are looking for:Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- Ability to travel about 30% of schedule (to manufacturing and vendor locations)
- Ability to execute designed experiments (DOE) and generate relevant product and process data to identify and mitigate process development and scale‑up risks is required
- Should be comfortable in team meetings, creating and managing timelines, execution of plans, contingency planning, and risk management
- Should be a self‑starter, have strong personal leadership, and able to work autonomously to plan, implement, monitor, and deliver objectives
- Ability to collaborate and work across multi‑functional boundaries in a dynamic project environment
- Degree in Chemical or Food Engineering
- Full‑time/Co‑op/Internship experience
