Systems Engineer; Engineer Systems

Position Overview

Systems Engineer – Honolulu, Hawaii. The role reports to the Site OIC/Deputy OIC and is responsible for managing the day‑to‑day operations and technical readiness of the program and facility equipment. The engineer provides technical expertise for 24/7/365 watch‑standing duties, manages all program systems, equipment, and components, and troubleshoots system outages to maximize circuit readiness and minimize downtime. The position may receive relocation assistance for the selected candidate if residing out of state.

• Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
• Analyze all levels of total system product, including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
• Convert customer or product requirements into total systems solutions while considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Conduct functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
• Provide technical expertise for the installation, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of installed systems.
• Serve as Power Control Station / Power Safety Officer (PCO/PSO) and oversee routine and preventative maintenance.
• Notify the chain of command of any substantive changes to routine system configuration or capability.
• Draft daily, monthly, and weekly watch bills in support of operational requirements.

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or a high school diploma with 6 years of relevant experience.
• Background in Electronic Maintenance, Information Systems, or Telecommunications disciplines.
• Experience managing electronic equipment for preventive and corrective maintenance, configuration, and calibration.
• Knowledge of safety procedures when working with electronic equipment.
• Ability to identify and resolve emergent problems involving technical and/or facility‑related equipment, systems, and components.
• Experience following quality assurance steps and checks.
• TS/SCI security clearance.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain base access credentials.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.

• Strong background in communications, fiber optics, electrical/electronic components, generators, AC/DC, and high/low voltage theory and application.
• Thorough knowledge of installation and maintenance of electrical/electronic components and working knowledge of Key Management Infrastructure.
• Experience with test equipment and operational knowledge of various test equipment.
• Experience developing, reviewing, and implementing policies and standard operating procedures.
• Experience with lifecycle management of programs and various equipment.
• Experience with information systems, network infrastructure, troubleshooting, and program analysis.

The work will be performed in office, industrial, or shipboard environments. The candidate must be capable of climbing ladders, tolerating confined spaces, and enduring extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving materials may be required.
