This person is responsible for preparing estimates for various projects, ensuring cost accuracy in collaboration with the project team, and assisting other estimators and managers in diverse estimating tasks.
ResponsibilitiesChampion the company's values by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
Ensure integrity in construction through honesty, unity, safety, and quality work.
Prepare estimates and supplementary information for potential projects.
Review and suggest improvements to contract documents, including plans, specifications, and addenda.
Offer value-engineering and life-cycle cost options for review.
Perform quantity take-offs, organize, price, and analyze information.
Differentiate between cost estimating services and the broader scope of preconstruction services.
Collaborate effectively with architects and owners, providing leadership in preconstruction and demonstrating best practices.
Solicit bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers, creating contact listings for specific projects.
Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to clarify pricing information and determine their suitability and competitiveness.
Prepare and analyze estimate formats in areas such as general conditions, bidding, quantity takeoffs, and bid analysis.
Prepare bid proposals for submittal.
Attend owner meetings during estimate development.
Prepare detailed schedules for proposed projects.
Initiate and guide various special projects related to estimating.
Create schematic plans or sketches to illustrate approach and strategy.
Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a construction-related field, or equivalent education and experience.
At least 2 years of experience in estimating commercial and/or industrial construction projects, demonstrating competence in hard-bid, design-build, and conceptual estimating.
Excellent working knowledge of Timberline and Excel software.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Appropriate knowledge of construction practices and methods.
Skills & Qualifications
Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Primavera systems is preferred.
Ability to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, phones, copiers, and fax machines.
This is a Permanent position based out of Honolulu, HI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
