Environmental Program Manager

Duties

• Advise management on how to include current and upcoming environmental requirements in their processes and procedures.
• Assess, inspect, monitor, and audit shipyard facilities and operations to ensure they comply with Federal, State, Navy, and local environmental protection rules.
• Review technical work documents and process instructions to ensure compliance with environmental policies and guidance.
• Represent the command at meetings, both internally and externally.
• Serve as the Program Manager for environmental subject matter areas.

• This is a bargaining unit position.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This position requires the selectee be willing and able to climb ladders and scaffolding.
• This position requires the selectee be willing and able to work onboard ships.
• This position requires the selectee be willing and able to lift/carry loads/items up to 44 pounds in weight.

Qualifications GS-12:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer, managing environmental programs (e.g., Resources Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA), Hazardous Waste, Non-Hazardous Waste, Used Oil, Hazardous Substances/Spill Response, Industrial Wastewater, Clean Air, Hazardous Materials, etc.)
