Electrical Designer – AutoCAD & Construction Projects

Candidates must currently reside on Oʻahu

My client is looking for an Electrical Designer to join its Honolulu team. This is a direct-hire opportunity with a respected multidisciplinary consulting firm that has served Hawaiʻi for more than 40 years.

The firm is 100% employee-owned and works across architecture, engineering, planning, construction management, and project management. You’ll help develop electrical construction documents while working alongside the people responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering the complete project.

The Position

This role is focused on hands-on electrical design and drawing production. You’ll use AutoCAD to create and revise construction documents based on design sketches, field information, existing plans, markups, surveys, and as-built drawings.

You’ll also have opportunities to visit project sites, participate in field assessments, support cost estimates and specifications, and see how your work progresses from a drawing set into completed construction.

This is a good opportunity for an electrical engineering graduate who already has practical construction-design experience and is ready to take on more responsibility.

What you’ll do
  • Create, modify, and finalize electrical construction drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Develop drawings from sketches, surveys, markups, field measurements, record documents, and existing plans.
  • Check drawings for accuracy, completeness, dimensions, and consistency.
  • Incorporate comments from project leads, clients, and internal reviewers.
  • Prepare coordinated drawing sets and submission packages.
  • Support electrical design reports, specifications, basis-of-design documents, quantity takeoffs, and construction-cost estimates.
  • Participate in site assessments, field measurements, and punch-list walkthroughs.
  • Interpret city, state, federal, and project-specific requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineers, architects, project managers, consultants, construction-management teams, and regulatory agencies.
  • Manage multiple drawing assignments and keep deliverables on schedule.
  • Assist less-experienced team members as your responsibilities grow.
What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least two years of electrical design or construction-industry experience.
  • Practical AutoCAD experience producing electrical construction drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural, engineering, and construction documents.
  • Understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and applicable codes.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to check your own work.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • FE/EIT completion is preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Why consider it?
  • Salary range of $90,, depending on experience.
  • Direct-hire opportunity with an established Hawaiʻi firm.
  • 100% employee-owned company.
  • More than 40 years of work throughout the islands.
  • Repeated local and national workplace recognition.
  • Experience across public, federal, institutional, infrastructure, and private-sector projects.
  • Exposure to architecture, engineering, planning, construction management, and project management.
  • Opportunities to grow beyond drawing production into design, fieldwork, coordination, and project delivery.
  • Work that supports facilities and infrastructure used throughout Hawaiʻi.

This role is best suited for an early-career electrical engineer or experienced electrical designer who wants to remain hands‑on while building broader technical and project experience.

Equal Opportunity Employer/Vets/Disabled.
