Overview
The Technical Supervisor is responsible for the operation of the entire Entertainment Technical department onboard and for all entertainment operations onboard including, Audio, Lighting, Automation and Broadcast. This position serves as the primary point of contact regarding any technical issues which may arise, related to all onboard shows.
In order to consistently exceed guest expectations and provide the highest levels of product and services, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Essential Functions- Manages the scheduling of the technicians to support all onboard activities and shows as per the Freestyle Daily, created by the Cruise Director.
- Coordinates with the Cruise Director/Entertainment Production Manager to resolve any possible scheduling conflicts. Also, creates a monthly all day duty rotation.
- Performs weekly inspections of all entertainment venues and areas to ensure all technicians are keeping entertainment technical areas clean, organized and safe (as per Norwegian Cruise Line Platinum Standards).
- Coordinates with the Electronics Engineer Junior / Entertainment to schedule and assist in preventative maintenance and cleaning, to ensure that a regular check on inventory is carried out to guarantee that the vessel has sufficient consumables (e.g.: lamps, etc.) and maintain proper auditable reports in Amos.
- Coordinates with the Entertainment Production Manager to ensure a suitable rehearsal schedule is determined prior to the start of each voyage.
- Directs weekly meetings for the Entertainment Technical Department, in order to resolve any issues that may arise in certain areas.
- Assist all technicians in their professional development and create development plans. Coordinate with the Lighting, Audio and Automation technician to schedule weekly training sessions for backstage succession planning.
- Manage inventory of all company assets within the Entertainment technical Department. This is to be up to date and auditable when ever asked for by shipboard and/or Shore side Management.
- Perform daily physical reviews of all lounges and venues daily to verify that the lighting and audio levels are operating at optimal levels.
- Assists the Group Services Coordinator with any technical issues or needs they may have.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
- Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SMS, and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for this position.
- Manages the security of all entertainment areas and equipment; ensures that all lockers and booths are kept locked when not in use and all microphones are removed from bandstands and kept in a secure location.
Provides guidance and support to all shipboard technicians in the Entertainment Technical Department, to ensure that all technical equipment and venues are operating at an optimal level at all times.
Nature and Scope- The position will report directly to the Entertainment Production Manager. The position supervises all of the technicians involved with the entertainment venues and related equipment. When needed, the incumbent will work to repair entertainment equipment to ensure proper performance. The position exists to manage staff and inventory of entertainment equipment.
- Two years experience in Technical Theatre in a supervisory or management role or four years experience in a theatrical setting including touring, Stage Management, Entertainment Venues.
- Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of standard theatre operations including Audio, Lighting and Backstage operations.
- Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of safe stage rigging practices.
- Intermediate to Advanced level English verbal and writing skills, including the proper use of English grammar.
- High School Diploma or Foreign Equivalent is required.
