Salary: $6,043 to $7,351 per month (SR-24, Step D to I).

The position is located in the Tax Research and Planning Office, Department of Taxation. The Office prepares statistical reports on tax collection, provides estimates of the revenue consequences of proposed legislation, and conducts research to design and evaluate State tax policies and programs. It provides administrative and technical support to the Council on Revenues, maintaining an econometric model and data necessary to predict tax collections based on economic forecasts.
The primary purpose of this position is to conduct research and prepare studies using accepted statistical and analytical techniques to assist in developing new tax legislation and evaluating existing tax policies and programs.
Legal Authorization To Work:
The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State to be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Education:
A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited four‑year college or university with a major in economics or finance.
Specialized
Experience:
Four years of progressively responsible work experience conducting complex economic research studies and analyses of major economic areas or issues, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of economic principles and theories and the ability to apply economic analysis in the formulation of sound projects and programs.
Substitutions Allowed:
Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply.
