Job Description
Under the supervision of the Mortgage Banking Operations Processing Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating all applicable residential loan documentation to complete a residential loan transaction pursuant to guidelines set forth by Bank of Hawaii and secondary marketing investor requirements, from application to submission to underwriter for final approval. This role ensures the processing of loans within specified time frames.
Responsibilities- Gather and review all income, asset, credit, title, property information and disclosures in a residential loan transaction for all loans, including validation of information on the loan application and findings of the underwriting engine, pursuant to the bank and secondary requirements.
- Process documents pursuant to investor, bank, and regulatory guidelines, ensuring the integrity and consistency of data in the loan file and on the loan origination/processing system.
- Maintain productivity and quality of service standards, including the approval of loans and submission to underwriter within specified time frames from receipt of Intent to Proceed to final approval.
- Maintain high-level customer service by proactively communicating effectively with borrowers, Loan Officers, Underwriters, and internal and external customers, and completing welcome and follow‑up calls throughout the process.
- Develop and maintain effective pipeline management to meet processing turn times and transaction deadlines, utilizing processor daily pipeline reports to prioritize workload.
- Perform all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.
- Provide a credit report mandated by the Dodd‑Frank Act to ensure demonstrated financial responsibility within 30 days of employment or transfer.
- Register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry within 30 days of employment or transfer.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.
- Have 2–4 years of mortgage or credit lending experience with knowledge of conventional and/or government guidelines and the automated underwriting system (DU, LPS, etc.).
- Demonstrate proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) or similar software; knowledge of bank software and Mortgage Origination Software Systems is preferred.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be analytical, detail‑oriented, and organized; able to prioritize workload, multitask, and meet deadlines. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is required, and must be able to lift 25 lbs.
