Job Summary

Pay Range$47,500 to $88,000
Duties and Responsibilities- Perform analysis of financial information for HMSA and/or subsidiary companies to provide support to management in making decisions for various products, programs, and/or contracts. Evaluate the financial condition and performance of these companies and make appropriate recommendations to management.
- Prepare financial statements and reports for governmental agencies, and ensure compliance with Federal and State laws.
- Review and conduct analysis of financial statements for HMSA and other related entities in an accurate and timely manner. This includes preparation, summarization, and maintenance of source data in various subsystems of financial data. Compile data obtained from other F/A units and other HMSA departments. Conduct analysis by applying GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP). Analyze and interpret applicable laws/regulations and implement procedures to ensure compliance.
- Prepare internal financial statements for audit by external auditors, including stand‑alone HMSA statements as well as consolidated HMSA and/or subsidiary financial statements: balance sheet, statement of operations, statement of cash flows and related footnote disclosures.
- Perform complex analysis of financial data for both revenue and expenses for HMSA and its subsidiary/affiliate companies. Research the nature and causes of variances and fluctuations. Perform analysis independently with limited direction and supervision. Present findings and recommendations to management. Reconcile financial information from source data to reported amounts.
- Analyze and summarize accounting transactions related to various HMSA contracts/programs to ensure proper recordation into the general ledger. Communicate effectively with other departments to gather information. Provide assistance and perform research for external and internal audits.
- Perform all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.
- Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to analyze financial transactions, prepare financial statements, and reconcile amounts to source documents.
- Knowledge of GAAP, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), health care accounting, mainframe accounting, and software systems.
- Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
