Overview
Position Function: Under the general direction of the Retail Loan Collections Manager and Assistant Manager/Supervisor, monitors and collects on delinquent Indirect, Consumer, Small Business and Early Stage (1-29 dpd) Portfolio loans. Works with customers to negotiate and establish workout programs for delinquent and problem loans, and may collaborate with legal counsel and debt management for accounts assigned to them. Processes extensions, due date changes, and LOGs on total loss claims.
Negotiates claims with external insurance agencies for the best outcome on total loss claims and supervises the forced placed insurance program. Ensures proper charges to the account for breaks in coverage, refunds for proof of insurance, and reconciling amortization schedules. Must have a thorough understanding of the repossession process and related DMV functions (certificates of title, etc.). Directs and ensures accurate payment applications and corrections/reversals/backdating.
This position also includes using a Central Pacific Bank issued cellular phone for collecting, and collecting efforts via text and email. Collection within Retail Collections includes skip chasing, offsetting for payments, and managing various payment applications including the electronic cash management system for ACH and Credit Cards.
- Review delinquent loan reports; prepare collection call strategies and initiate contact primarily via telephone and written notices. Probe cause of delinquency; negotiate, implement, and monitor accounts through reinstatement and/or adverse action. Prepare monthly loan reports.
- Interact with a diversity of individuals at all levels (customers, branches, internal/external departments). Handle customers in adverse situations and escalated calls. Establish knowledge of Bankruptcy and work with attorneys/trustees to resolve cases.
- Document contacts and workout arrangements in VQN, with correspondence to borrowers and file history. Update multi-client systems and scan/import necessary documents for future reference.
- Coordinate with other departments regarding repossessions, loan modifications, and extensions. Work with Supervisor on assigning cars for repossession, managing the repo, and the liquidation process.
- Monitor processing and file maintenance of Bankruptcy accounts and Charge Off accounts.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.
- Experience: 1+ years of experience in Collections, with knowledge of FDCPA, FCRA, GLBA, SCRA and Bankruptcy laws.
- Must be able to perform light physical work and move items up to 20 pounds.
- Proficient with standard office equipment and applications.
- Clear verbal and written communication with internal and external customers; ability to hear sufficiently for daily interactions.
- Must be able to read and understand bank-related documents.
- Work in a conventional office setting; ability to sit at a desk or workstation for long periods and adapt to different environments as needed.
