Mortgage Loan Originator / Advisor, Loan Officer / Lending
Position Function
Responsible for managing relationships and generating new mortgage loans from Realtors, referral partners, prospective home buyers and borrowers. Spends majority of their time performing outside sales and generating their own new mortgage production. Performs all duties and interacts with internal and external customers in a manner that is aligned with the Company's Core Values of “Voyaging Spirit” and “Positively Ohana”. PrimaryAccountabilities
- Directly originate and close a minimum level in residential mortgage loans per month (level to be determined and communicated by management).
- Interview applicants to determine their ability to qualify for a mortgage loan.
- Analyze the applicant’s financial situation to qualify for the correct loan amount and mortgage program that fits their individual needs.
- Input customer information into the loan origination system and other systems (e.g., automated underwriting, contact management) as needed.
- Make recommendations regarding credit decisions on residential mortgages to the underwriting representatives of HLD or various wholesale funding sources.
- Monitor loan file throughout the entire process up to and including recordation.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalency required.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in the mortgage industry with solid knowledge of mortgage loans, including qualifying criteria, individual product parameters and applicable regulatory requirements.
License/Certification:
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) required prior to performing any duties of a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).
- Perform light physical work and move or lift items up to 20 pounds.
- Operate standard office equipment (phone, copier, personal computer, etc.) proficiently.
- Communicate clearly verbally and in writing with all internal and external customers.
- Hold and hear sufficiently for daily discussions and interactions.
- Read and understand bank-related documents.
- Work in a conventional office setting, involving sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods. Adapt to different work environments as needed to perform the job.
