Financial Aid Officer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Represent UW‑Parkside Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid at university and off‑campus events, including presentations and FAFSA assistance.
  • Provide counseling to students and families about the financial aid process, paperwork, budgeting, and payments.
  • Assist in collecting and reviewing documentation, explaining requirements, and preparing financial aid applications.
  • Review financial aid applications and aid awarding decisions, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
  • Assist in reporting requirements to third‑party stakeholders (scholarship organizations, state agencies, the Department of Education).
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with federal and state regulations related to financial aid and student data.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Key Job Responsibilities
  • Triage processes or applications when issues arise.
  • Allocate financial aid to qualifying students and audit award decisions.
  • Hire, train, and supervise student employees.
  • Serve as a point of contact for third‑party stakeholders on financial aid information and processes.
  • Collect, prepare, and analyze financial aid data for stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using a student information system (People Soft, Banner, Ellucian, etc.).
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations.
  • At least 1 year experience working in higher education.
