Help Us Build Strong Teams – Become a Personnel Clerk!The Department of Environmental Services (ENV) and the Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) are each hiring for a Personnel Clerk I in Kapolei.
What You Will Do- Prepare and process a variety of personnel transactions such as new hires, transfers, promotions/demotions, reallocations, resignations, leaves, temporary assignments, suspensions, etc.
- Audit payroll and leave forms.
- Prepare and process various forms such as medical insurance, personal history statement, workers' compensation, etc.
- Prepare and distribute vacancy announcements. Perform preliminary checks.
- Monitor selections made to ensure timeliness and conformance to established rules and regulations.
- Advise departmental staff and/or the public regarding bargaining unit contracts, memoranda of agreement, class data and Civil Service/Federal/State laws, rules, regulations and policies regarding employment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTEquivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTThree (3) years of clerical experience, one of which shall have involved work relating to personnel activities.
Applicable Skills Needed- Knowledge of various types of personnel transactions and procedures for processing thereof, and methods for personnel recordkeeping
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures and use of standard office equipment
- Ability to understand and interpret laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures and pertinent provisions of various bargaining unit agreements
- Ability to deal tactfully with employees and the public
Business school or college-level credits from an accredited college or university will substitute on a year-for-year basis for up to two of the required three years of general clerical experience. There is NO substitution for the one year of experience in personnel-related activities.
