, Driver License Branch, Motor Vehicle Control Section is hiring for a Motor Vehicle Control Inspector II located at the Kapahulu Vehicle Reconstruction Inspection Station. This is a working supervisory position in which you will supervise and work alongside Motor Vehicle Control inspectors to perform inspectional and investigative duties. This position is also responsible for ensuring that businesses engaged in transporting passengers comply with safety and operating requirements and that abandoned and derelict vehicles are removed from Honolulu streets.

Education & Experience RequirementsEducation Requirement
Equivalent to graduation from high school. Responsible work experience which demonstrated the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be substituted for education.
Experience Requirement
Three (3) years of experience in inspectional, investigative, instructional or repair work which shall have included ascertaining the overall mechanical, operating and safety condition of motor vehicles, including or supplemented by one year of experience in the inspection and/or investigation of businesses engaged in transporting passengers or goods for hire.
- Knowledge of state and local laws, rules and regulations pertaining to traffic safety and to common carrier operations
- Knowledge of mechanical functioning of motor vehicle safety devices and equipment
- Knowledge of motor vehicle safety test equipment
- Knowledge of inspectional and investigative methods and techniques
- Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision
- Ability to interpret and explain laws, rules and regulations
