Overview
This posting is for the State of Hawaii, Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Insurance Division, Insurance Fraud Investigation Branch. The position is located on Oahu (Downtown Honolulu).
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
ResponsibilitiesThe position is primarily responsible for initial case assessment, development and execution of an investigative plan, including gathering and preserving evidence, preparing reports and assisting the attorney assigned to the case with all phases of prosecution.
Employment TermsThis position is exempt from the civil service and considered temporary in nature; therefore, if you are appointed to the position, your employment will be considered at will.
QualificationsEducation: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree. Excess experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis provided the incumbent shows sufficient skills and ability to perform the duties and responsibilities.
Experience: Two and one half (2‑½) years of criminal investigative experience, including writing clear and comprehensive reports, reading and interpreting complex written material, interpreting and applying statutes and rules, performing research, and dealing with the public. Experience in the investigation of insurance fraud preferred.
Knowledge: Knowledge of clear investigative writing, interviewing methods and techniques. Knowledge and understanding of basic insurance principles and practices preferred.
Skills/Abilities: Ability to develop and execute a criminal investigative plan that includes case assessment, gathering and analyzing facts, interviewing witnesses, and gathering and preserving evidence; interpreting and analyzing financial information; communicating clearly and precisely the interpretation of analytical data; interpreting laws, rules, and regulations; dealing effectively and independently with the public.
Ability to effectively operate a motor vehicle with possession of a valid driver’s license.
