Key Responsibilities- Perform extensive field work and outreach functions.
- Serve as liaison between professional staff and clients or potential clients.
- Perform preliminary screening for continued eligibility.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Basic Education/
Experience:
Graduation from high school or equivalent, and experience that demonstrates the ability to read, comprehend and apply written directions, a high degree of verbal skill and the ability to make basic mathematical computations, including averaging. - Specialized
Experience:
Three years of experience in providing supportive services to social workers, vocational rehabilitation specialists, public housing managers, or other professional workers in programs such as public welfare, family court, vocational rehabilitation, and public housing. Examples include performing clerical tasks in processing documents, transporting clients and materials, explaining services to clients or tenants, and assisting in overseeing group activities such as bowling and swimming. - Social Service Assistant IV: Must possess at least one year of experience comparable to the Social Service Aid III in State government.
- Social Service Aid III (required for comparison): Independently provides all supportive services for a unit or team; participates in team activities; does limited field work including checking with clients, encouraging them to use available resources, following up on cases, relaying information, problems, and observations to professional staff.
- Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements will apply.
- Driver's License: Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
- Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Requirement: Must not have engaged in sexual abuse in a prison or other institution as defined by federal law; must not have been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community by force, threats of force, or coercion; must not have been civilly or administratively adjudicated on such allegations; must not have been the subject of substantiated allegations or resigned during a pending investigation.
